Neurofibrillary tangles (NFTs)
Abnormal accumulation of TAU filaments
The latest research results show that entanglement is composed of 542 different proteins, some of which are involved in basic cellular processes, such as energy production, reading of genetic material, and cell decomposition and digestion.

When a neuron communicates with another,a signal goes from the body knowed as soma to the synapses to transfer the information, the signal passes through the skeleton of the neuron composed of microtubes, these microtubes are stabilized by normal TAU protein,in AD,TAU protein becomes defectives and attaches from microtubes, thus the skeleton of the neuron dissociate as it is nolonger maintained, defective TAU proteins then assemble to form filaments in the neuron, without the skeleton, the neurons degenerate and connections between the neurons are lost, the abnormal accumulation of TAU filaments in the neuron creates neurofibrillary tangles and eventually cause the death of the neuron.
